We have been using the 42’ steel sailboat Andromede for our research since 2023. Operating from a sailboat allows us to remain offshore for extended periods while minimizing our carbon footprint. From Andromede, we collect whale identification

We often encounter long-finned pilot whales (Globicephala melas) when we are in deeper waters off the shelf edge. Our sightings and photos will be shared with The Cape Breton Pilot Whale Project to contribute to their photo-id catalog.
